![]() One must be a carbine and the other a called a rifle. I just noticed the difference in the length of the two Mod. I did not know that Winchester would send a replacement firing pin. Glockman My 284 still needs the firing pin replaced. The last few deer I have shot have dropped where the stood. He has been reloading a ballistic tip that is phenomenal. The last I checked years it was over $50.00 a box. Winchester brought out the 284 to compete with the 280. ![]() He had a big collection of Winchester rifles. I bought the 284 from my cousins estate when he passed away. I eased back and took the clip out with out getting caught. When I realized the clip was still in the gun. As I eased out into a fire lane in a pine plantation there was a buck. the Model 100 have a bolt sleeve lock pin that rides in a longitudinal groove in the LH inside of the receiver. When the recall came out just before deer season I would load it and then take the clip back out shooting it as a single shot. I sent into Winchester when there was the recall about the firing pin braking causing the gun to fire before the bolt was locked back up after shooting it. The sling is so soft that I did not want to have to break in a new one. The old military sling on it wore out on the forearm to the point I had to lace it back together. ![]() I wish my 308 looked that good as I walked many miles still hunting with it over the years since I bought it back in the late 60's so it has some, really a lot, battle scars on it.
